Biography
Ashley Lyn Cafagna was born in Iowa City on February 15, 1983. Her dad Mark was finishing chiropractic school at the time, and he and my mom Pam thought it was a good time to start a family. When she was one, her parents moved back to their hometown San Diego. She had a normal and happy childhood but around the age of six the “entertainment bug” began to take hold. She was always singing and putting on little shows for my family and friends. She begged my parents to let me get into show business. They thought horseback-riding classes was a better idea. So, she learned how to ride English and Western. I actually enjoyed it until one day I was thrown pretty hard from a horse. Once again she asked my parents if she could pursue entertainment…they reluctantly agreed. She started entering pageants, and took song and dance lessons. When she was nine years old I landed my first role in a Christian Youth Theater Production Company. She performed in five plays, all of which allowed me to not only act, but sing and dance as well. After that she knew she wanted to continue performing no matter what! When she was 10, her younger cousin’s mother heard of a talent search being held in her local mall. She only went to support my cousin Frankie. But, moments before the contest, she decided to enter. She couldn’t believe it, but ended up placing first out of a field of over 300 other hopefuls. My managers Craig Wargo and Gordon McCormack “discovered” me at that talent search. A year later, after convincing my parents to let me try acting, we had a meeting with Craig and Gordon at Talent Management Associates and we signed with them right away. Her first audition was an L.A. Gear commercial. She booked the job and went on to do two other commercials---one for Golden Grahams and another for Honeycomb. Her first theatrical break was in 1994 when she played a starring role in Clive Barker’s thriller “Lord of Illusion. She later filmed movies including “Kid Midas,” “Demon in a Bottle,” “Mystery Monsters,” and “Werewolf Reborn.” Between filming these movies, she also did a Disney/WBN pilot in 1995 entitled “It Ain’t Easy” in the series regular role of Star. She was really excited about the pilot and was convinced it was going to be my “big break”. Well, as fate would have it the show was that my family saw how serious she was about acting and we collectively decided to move from San Diego to Los Angeles. The three-hour commute each way to my auditions was beginning to take its toll and we realized if I was going to continue the move was necessary. Nine months later I booked the series regular role of Liz Miller on “Saved By the Bell; The New Class.” she did the show for two seasons. It was a huge learning experience for me. During filming “Saved by the Bell” I also filmed a guest role on the WB’s hit series “Seventh Heaven.” For the past two and a half years she has played the role of Kimberly Fairchild on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” The part has really allowed her to stretch my acting abilities. She believes the Lord is the reason for her success and he has really blessed her with this role.
