| On August 21, 1975 at 2:59 p.m. in Worcester, Massachusetts, Diane Witt, with her husband Robert by her side, gave birth to Alicia Roanne Witt. (That's three days and three years older than I am!) She said her first words "The End" when she was only one month old. Her mother would tell stories to Alicia often, and would always finish with the words "The End", but that day Alicia finished the story for her mother. Afterwards, Alicia started to read at six months old. Her parents noticed how much of a quick learner she was and decided to home teach her. Her fast learning skills, great passion and talents made her mature very fast in several different aspects of life. (I was always more mature than the other kids in my class. I would usually enjoy speaking more with the teachers than my classmates). This young protege wrote a letter to Good Housekeeping magazine at the age of two. They recognised her for being their youngest reader. By this time she started reading Shakespeare plays (most people have trouble enough understanding this in high-school!) Two years later, at the age of four, Alicia appeared on shows such as That's Incredible and Today showcasing her acting talents as Juliet, and other Shakespeareean characters. This experience left her with a taste of acting in her that made her want to return, and become the best in her league. Her next big appearance is in the movie Dune at age nine. She played the character Alia, and she read every book in the Dune series the movie was based on. (how many 9 year olds can do that?) The movie was released when she was ten, but they filmed when she was nine. Acting isn't the only passion Alicia developed in her childhood. She developed a strong passion for music when she started her piano lessons at the age of 7. (I've been playing the clarinet for the past 6 years) She was good enough to earn a living playing in clubs when she first moved to Los-Angeles at the age of 15. She made an appearance in the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Arts 25th anniversary. One of her dreams is to compose the music to a movie she stars in. (maybe even write the screenplay?). After getting her high school equivalency diploma at the age of 14, Alicia moved to Los-Angeles. She got back in the acting scene with the director of Dune with a one or two episode appearance in Twin Peaks.(very popular TV series in the early 90's) She was playing piano at Beverly Wilshire Hotel at this time because acting alone wasn't enough to make ends-need yet. It's when she landed a role in the TV series Cybill as Zoey Woodbine that she could stop working the clubs. These days she lives in a one-bedroom house with a queen size bed and a cat named Jessie with an appparent attitude. |
